What we believe

We aspire to follow Jesus in bringing the knowledge of God’s love to all. Mission Objectives We commit ourselves to carrying out this mission in the following ways: by loving and serving one another so that we grow together into a close Christian fellowship; by welcoming newcomers warmly into our midst; by encouraging everyone in the congregation to use their talents and gifts in God’s service; by caring for the needy in our congregation and in the local community, and by reaching out beyond ourselves to the wider world; by co-operating with other Churches in ministry to people in the Brussels area; by making our premises available for appropriate outreach work.

History of the Church of Scotland

The Church of Scotland is a Protestant church of the Reformed tradition. It is not possible to point to a precise date at which it was “founded” – the Scots Reformation took place in 1560 but it was not until 1690 that it was finally settled that the church should be organized along Presbyterian lines. Even after that there have been moments of internal disagreement but by 1929 the majority of the movements had been reunited, the main exception being the body referred to as the Free Church.
